Watertown, MA – January 21, 2019 – Cambrian Innovation®, a commercial provider of distributed wastewater treatment and resource recovery solutions, today announced that it has been named runner-up in the award for Technology Disruptor by the World Economic Forum and the Forum of Young Global Leaders. The award comes from an initiative called The Circulars and recognizes “notable contributions to the circular economy in the private sector, public sector and society.”
“We’re honored to be named runner-up for the 2019 Circular Economy Tech Disruptor award,” said Cambrian Innovation founder and CEO Matthew Silver. “Our team has been hard at work to refine our technology and close the loop on this already-scarce resource. We’re grateful for that the World Economic Forum and the Form of Young Global Leaders has recognized our progress.”
Cambrian Innovation’s award-winning EcoVolt® product suite has revolutionized the way industrial facilities address their water, wastewater, and energy management challenges. With Cambrian’s systems, industrial producers across the United States are converting their wastewater into valuable resources like clean energy and clean water, closing a resource-intensive loop and disrupting what has traditionally been a linear approach to managing waste.
“Our mission is to catalyze harmony between nature and industry,” said Silver. “And our hope is that Cambrian’s systems will help create a truly circular industrial ecology where waste is recognized a resource.”
Each year the World Economic Forum assembles a panel of judges, global leaders and leading experts across business and civil society, to identify the companies on the cutting edge of their industries and fields. Past finalists for the award for Technology Disrupter—Apple, Lyft, HP—were all recognized for their own creative reuse solutions in their respective industries. This year’s finalists range from companies in sustainable packaging to food waste reduction to a global mobility-as-a-service platform.
The 2019 Circular Economy runners-up and award winners gathered in Davos, Switzerland on January 21st during the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. The event marks the second time the World Economic Forum has recognized Cambrian Innovation, the first being the distinction of Global Pioneer in 2015.
