Industry-leading provider of wastewater-to-resources solutions adds to growing list of top-tier customers in food & beverage industry
Watertown, MA – May 13, 2019 – In 2018 Cambrian Innovation®, a commercial provider of distributed wastewater and resource recovery solutions, saw record growth in installation base, bookings, and talent.
With systems now operational at a major beer multinational in New York and Domaine Chandon (Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE) in Napa, a service contract in place with one of South America’s largest bottling companies, and a new project under construction at a New York State-based food production facility, Cambrian is expanding into new market verticals and geographies and partnering with some of the top brands in global food and beverage.
In 2018 Cambrian increased the installed base of systems by 100%, revenue by over 50%, and bookings by 300%. Cambrian has now treated over 115 million gallons of wastewater, recycled over 35 million gallons of water, and created and saved over 1 gigawatt hour of energy. Cambrian added a Senior Director of Project Finance and a Director of Project Management as well, adding critical pieces to the company’s depth and experience.
Among the new projects is a groundbreaking 15-year WEPA (Water-Energy Purchase Agreement)® project with a major US craft brewery. With the support of the local city government, this project aims to treat and reuse over 70 million gallons of water during its life-cycle, cementing Cambrian’s position as the leader in industrial treatment and reuse.
Cambrian’s CEO Dr. Matthew Silver spoke at the National Resources Defense Council’s annual meeting in Boston, the 7th Annual Massachusetts Water Forum, and the nation-wide CleanTech Open’s kick-off event. Cambrian was again recognized by the World Economic Forum, this time as a runner-up for their circular economy awards, the Circulars, and is proud to have been added as an official Unreasonable company.
Cambrian maintains a robust research and product development group, and continues to improve on core technology. Toward the end of 2018, Cambrian was awarded more than $1M total in grants from the USDA and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' START grant to develop next-generation EcoVolt® solutions. These new systems dramatically decrease the cost of wastewater treatment while maintaining the critical differentiators of Cambrian’s core technologies and enabling the systems to address larger scales. Cambrian also expanded their patent portfolio with 6 awarded patents, bringing the total to 24.
Cambrian has carried this momentum into 2019, where a number of promising partnerships have taken shape and even more progress around industrial water reuse is under way.
