Cambrian Innovation Announces New Partnership with Domaine Chandon California

LUXURY GOODS CONGLOMERATE SELECTS ECOVOLT REACTOR TO TREAT PROCESS WATER

Boston, MA — January 23, 2018 — Cambrian Innovation, a commercial provider of distributed wastewater treatment and resource recovery solutions, today announced a new partnership with Domaine Chandon California, a part of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH). Cambrian’s EcoVolt Reactor will expand upon Domaine Chandon’s existing treatment capacity by 30 percent.

Founded by Moet & Chandon in 1973, Domaine Chandon was the first French-owned sparkling wine maker in the United States. The company has always shown a strong commitment to sustainability in both the vineyards and the winery, and has been certified under the Napa Green Certified Land Program and the Napa Green Certified Winery Program since 2011. When it comes to water, Chandon’s most prominent sustainability efforts include using collected or recycled water for irrigation and using innovative equipment to increase water efficiency.

“We aim high when it comes to environmental performance and implement the most innovative technologies and practices to support our environmental initiatives,” said David Junod, Operations Director at Domaine Chandon.  “Adding Cambrian Innovation’s EcoVolt Reactor to our program will impact our water and energy efficiency while offering significant environment and economic savings,” he added.

Prefabricated, modular, and stackable, the EcoVolt Reactor will allow Domaine Chandon to expand their treatment capacity within a relatively low footprint and with minimal disruption to their daily operations. The bioelectrically-enhanced anaerobic solution will reduce the facility’s need for treatment by aeration by nearly 60 percent and lowering annual costs associated with disposal of biosolids, operations, and maintenance.

Chandon will continue to use their existing aeration ponds for further polishing and storage of the EcoVolt Reactor effluent before it is used to irrigate their 135 acres of vineyard.

“It has been a busy year at Cambrian. We now have four EcoVolt plants on the ground and operating, and six in various stages of design or installation,” says Matthew Silver, Founder & CEO. “We are honored that leaders in the industry like Domaine Chandon see our products as the most innovative, sustainable solutions on the market, and look forward to working with them as they grow.”

About Domaine Chandon

At Chandon California, we describe ourselves as “born French, raised in Napa” because we were the first sparkling wine house established in Napa with French Champagne heritage, and have now been crafting Californian wines for over forty harvests. In 1973 Chandon was established by a partnership between Robert-Jean de Vogüé, President of Moët & Chandon and Californian pioneer John Wright. Our more than 1,100 acres of vineyards span the prestigious Napa and Sonoma Valleys and reside in the Carneros, Yountville, and Mount Veeder appellations.

Chandon’s diverse portfolio ranging from the classic Brut, Rosé and Blanc de Noirs to the new Sweet Star, all reflect the bounty of our California sunshine combined with techniques and expertise from our French heritage. Chandon California uses the méthode traditionnelle winemaking process and crafts its wines only from Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay grapes. Through this combination of place and know-how, we create fresh, approachable wines with a vibrant fruit character that is distinctly Californian.
