Dr. Justin Buck, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Cambrian Innovation, spoke at the Society for General Microbiology (SGM) Autumn Conference this past week. Dr. Buck’s talk, entitled “Exoelectrogens – Designer Microbes with Diverse ‘Potentials’”, focused on the value added products generated by special exo-electrogenic bacteria when used in bio-electrochemical systems.
The conference was held September 3 – 5 at the University of Warwick in London and provided insight on modern commercial applications of breakthrough discoveries in microbiology. The Society of General Microbiology is the largest society for microbiologists in Europe, with worldwide memberships based in academia, industry, medical centers, and research institutes. The SGM publishes key academic journals in the fields of microbiology and virology, organizes international scientific conferences and provides a global forum for scientific development.
As co-founder and CTO of Cambrian Innovation, Dr. Buck has been principal and co-investigator on a range of projects. This includes genetic engineering of electrogenic bacteria, the development of advanced sensor technology, and the design and development of advanced electrogenic water treatment technology.
