The Field Service Representative - Commissioning will be responsible for startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and initial operations integration in the field for Cambrian's Wastewater Treatment Facilities. The Field Service Representative will execute commissioning and support operation to maintain compliance for water quantity and quality. The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to, execute, and document commissioning plans at various locations. The role will fulfill the need for a technical resource in the field to execute items such as calibration scaling, wiring tests and checks, hydro testing, construction milestone verification, troubleshooting, and configuration of flowmeters, instruments, valves, pumps, PLC and SCADA programming, as well as have process experience in the operation of the system.
The role routinely communicates with customers and leadership to ensure meeting of schedule and proper technical operation s of equipment. The position will proactively track and respond to punch list, and issues related to startup, commissioning, troubleshooting while working across the company's departments to ensure the site is operating to design specifications, that the internal and external client is responded to promptly and startup, commissioning, troubleshooting issues in the field are addressed in a timely fashion.
The Field Service Representative will be responsible for initial operation and maintenance of Cambrian's Wastewater Treatment Facility while performing startup, commissioning, and relevant training of local site operators.
The individual should be knowledgeable on wastewater treatment standard practices. The ideal candidate will bring an understanding of OSHA, EPA and State regulatory compliance, plant operations, controls, and lab sampling standards. Additionally, the candidate must be capable of working with a team of interdisciplinary engineers, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors while maintaining both the best interests of the company and clients who choose to partner with Cambrian for their unique water treatment needs.
This position requires travel to installations across the United States to support various sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Startup, commission, troubleshoot processes, equipment, and controls
- Ensure operational contract compliance of volume and quality specifications
- Recommend and assist local team to establish inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts
- Consult with customer management and operation teams
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping practices
- Work to ensure the full treatment system and all ancillary equipment operates to meet design specifications
- Review and advise on P&IDs, PFDs, Installation Details, O&M Manuals, Design Standards, Engineering Records and Preventative Maintenance Procedures for future Cambrian facilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of Operational protocols for new and existing sites
- Work collaboratively with Safety Team to ensure safe operations at all sites, including OSHA compliance
- Verify, improve trending and SCADA monitoring and measurement system and data of MLSS, pH, sludge age/solids retention time, COD/BOD removal efficiency, flow, DO, temperature, etc.
- Analyze data for evaluating system performance trends, disruptions, and site compliance
Typical Duties
- Operate, configure and calibrate equipment such as VFDs, sensors, chemical injection systems, PLC and SCADA, flowmeters, and operate the system processes to adhere to treatment performance
- Conduct maintenance and calibration activities
- Perform analytical testing such as: COD, MLSS, conductivity, turbidity, hardness, chlorine, pH, 02, SDI, TOC, in addition to various other site-specific testing requirements
- Carry out mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting on equipment such as valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation
- Create and maintain site paperwork, and provide customers with detailed technical summaries of work performed
- Utilize Ignition and Allen-Bradley controls to run the system, often needing to remote in and respond to alarms outside of regular hours
- Training and continuing education as developed and agreed to with the Field Operations Manager
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED/Home School Certification or international equivalent
- Ability to work independently in the field as a representative of the company while managing competing priorities
- Ability to travel 50-90+%
- Ability to gain and maintain access to sites as assigned
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum 5 years of progressive operations experience of industrial or municipal water or wastewater treatment facilities
- Operation and optimization of WWTPs, preferably in the food and beverage or water and wastewater industry
- Experience reading P&IDs and PFDs
- Solid understanding of MBR and RO unit maintenance and operation
- Prior experience using Ignition, Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley Automation
- Basic understanding of industrial electrical and instrumentation design
- Experience with operations of package/skidded equipment, process equipment, process controls and instrumentation, and general best practices in wastewater treatment
- Experience with laboratory equipment, water quality testing and data collection
Desired Skills/Qualities
- Knowledge and operations experience of DAF, SAF, heat exchangers, instrumentation, pumps, dewatering and solids handling equipment, hydraulics, PLC and SCADA operation and programming, neutralization and pH control, Expanded Granular Sludge Bed, RNG, biogas reactor operations, anaerobic and aerobic treatment and digestors. MBR, UFMBR, MBBR, RO, Ion exchange, filtration, flare, boiler, blowers, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, UV, chemical dosing systems, PLC control systems, PLC programming, electrical knowledge, and troubleshooting
- Degree in Science/Engineering (STEM) or technical certificate
- Working experience with PLC control systems, PLC programming, electrical knowledge, and troubleshooting
- Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or working on a license
- Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
- Ability to working alone and safely
- Hands-on experience maintaining, and operating Industrial Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Facilities
- Stellar organizational skills along with the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Live within a reasonable distance of a commercial airport
