The Opportunity

Growing, private-equity-backed, clean technology firm is seeking a talented Commercial Operations Manager with a strong track record of success. The Commercial Operations Manager role is a pivotal part of the commercial team in driving sales growth and providing a wide range of support during the entire sales cycle to ensure key corporate objectives are met.

Responsibilities and Typical Duties

  • Ownership of entire commercial deal process, after lead generation and until contract signature. Includes management of customer proposals, support of commercial team in negotiations, and streamlining of proposal generation process
  • Act as a technical liaison between the sales team and the engineering/R&D departments and assess, design, and develop potential applications of Cambrian’s products and solutions that meet customer’s needs
  • Work in partnership with cross-functional inputs (lab, application engineering, finance, legal, and operations) to build business cases, develop customer proposals, and execute contracts
  • Project manage and prioritize deals for the internal Cambrian sales team. Identify and tackle bottlenecks within the sales team and the other contributors to the commercial deal process
  • Preparation of internal business case approvals and presentation of opportunities to the Cambrian management team and provide cases, presentations, and technical support to customers
  • Administration of the CRM tool, Zoho, ensuring the integrity of the data at all times, and reporting on lead, account, and opportunity activity and production of sales KPI reports
  • Identify best practices in deal structures and coach regional sales to mitigate risks
  • Identify and track relevant opportunities, ensuring regular updates from the regional sales team, partake in the coordination of sales and marketing activities

The Right Stuff

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering or technical sales
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software, such as Zoho or SalesForce
  • Experience with financial modeling, commercial deal process, and commercial contract terms
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, respond to changing needs and conditions, adhere to deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, small-company environment
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills. Must exhibit strong leadership potential and have a professional demeanor
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic, looking for a team player willing to roll up their sleeves and work off-hours Local candidates preferred; currently we are not offering relocation

 Working Environment

  • This position will normally work a typical schedule of Monday to Friday. Must be able to work weekends and/or holidays to meet business needs
  • May have to travel from your primary office to marketing events and customer sites
  • The work environment is informal, team-oriented, and collaborative.
